Chinese General Hospital at full capacity for PUIs, COVID-19 cases

Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center is the latest addition to the growing number of hospitals that are now in full capacity and can no longer accept COVID-19 patients and persons under investigation (PUI).

"With a heavy heart, the CGHMC has decided not to accept anymore PUIs/COVID positive patients. They are encouraged to go to COVID designated hospitals or other facilities," said Dr. Samuel Ang,
CGHMC medical director, in a statement.

"Presently all our designated COVID wards are full; our healthcare team is depleted; and we don't have enough test kits and Personal Protective Equipment," he added.

However, the hospital management said it will review the situation daily and will take in more COVID-19-related cases as soon as possible.

"We will be assessing our capabilities on a day to day basis and we will at anytime lift this notice whenever we see fit and capable to meet the demands for your health care concerns," Ang said.

The hospital however will remain available to accommodate other patients with emergency medical concerns. --Bernadette Reyes/KBK, GMA News
