Philippines reports 14 new COVID-19 deaths as cases breach 1,000


 

The total number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines breached 1,000 on Saturday, with 272 new cases, 14 new deaths, and four new recoveries.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the latest figures brought the totals to 1,075 cases, 68 deaths, and 35 recoveries in the country as of March 28, 4 p.m. 

As of Saturday, the Health Department has tested a total of 2,686 individuals. Of these, 920 have tested negative and 667 have pending results.

Persons under investigation were at 804 ,while persons under monitoring were at 6,321.

Results after death

Test results of most of the new fatalities only came out after they have already died.

According to data from the DOH, patient 382 is a 63-year-old Filipina from Quezon City with no travel history.

The patient succumbed to pneumonia on March 18 and later tested positive for the virus on March 22. She also suffered from hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and chronic kidney disease.

Patient 648 is a 71-year-old Filipino with unknown travel and exposure history who died on March 25, the same day his test results were released.

He also suffered from diabetes mellitus and cardiac dysrhythmia.

Patient 391 is an 80-year-old Filipina from Manila with no travel history. She died on March 19 and tested positive for the virus on March 22.

The patient also had permanent atrial fibrillation secondary to hypertension, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease infarct.

Patient 522 is a 61-year-old Filipina from Pasig City with no travel history.

The patient died on March 26, three days after testing positive for the virus on March 23. She also suffered from renal disease.

Patient 730 is an 86-year-old Filipino from Quezon City with no travel history. He died on March 25, the same day his test results were released.

He also suffered from hypertension.

Patient 676 is a 64-year-old Filipino from San Juan City with no travel history.

He died on March 24, a day before he was confirmed positive for COVID-19. The patient also had hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and renal disease.

Patient 677 is a 60-year-old Filipino from Caloocan with no travel history.

He died on March 23 and was confirmed positive for the virus on March 25.

Patient 393 is a 74-year-old Filipina from Quezon City with no travel history.

The patient died on March 21 and was confirmed COVID-19 positive on March 22. She also had hypertension and cardiac disease.

Patient 729 is a 67-year-old Filipino from Quezon City with unknown travel and exposure history.

He died on March 19 and was confirmed positive on March 25. The patient also had hypertension and diabetes mellitus.

Patient 731 is an 82-year-old Filipino from Quezon City with no travel history.

The patient died on March 20 and was confirmed positive on March 25. He also suffered from hypertension and diabetes mellitus.

Patient 604 is a 60-year-old Filipino from Manila with no travel and exposure history who died on March 26 after testing positive on March 24.

The patient also suffered from hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia.

Patient 277 is a 72-year-old Filipina from Bulacan with unknown travel and exposure history.

She died on March 19 and was confirmed COVID-19 positive a day later. The patient also had hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and asthma.

Patient 635 is an 80-year-old Filipina from Paranaque City with no travel history. However, he is related to a confirmed COVID-19 case.

The patient died on March 22 and was confirmed positive for the virus on March 24. She also suffered from hypertension, hypothyroidism, and renal disease.

Patient 581 is a 79-year-old Filipino-American female from Taguig City with no travel history.

She died on March 21 and was confirmed COVID-19 positive on March 24. She also had acute kidney injury. -JST/MDM, GMA News
