No memorial, no urn for COVID-19 dead at Baesa crematorium

Families of COVID-19 fatalities do not even have time to say goodbye to their loved ones, who are immediately brought to crematorium, like the one in Baesa in Quezon City, to be cremated.

And for lack of urns these past days, the ashes are handed to relatives in a clear pouch after the procedure.

The government mandates that persons who die of the virus are  cremated within 12 hours after their demise.

"Yung mga dinadala po dito may mga family po. Nakakaawang pagsabihan sila an i-tabi muna nila, lumayo sila, kasi diba parang iba 'yung pakiramdam po," Baesa Crematorium supervisor Paolo Hipolito said in a report by Saleema Refran on 24 Oras.

Three bodies were cremated on Wednesday.  The crematorium has already cremated 31 bodies.

As of present, there are 151 COVID-19 cases in Quezon City with 27 fatalities and 11 recoveries. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF,GMA News
