NCR to be prioritized in COVID-19 mass testing —Galvez

The National Capital Region will be prioritized in the conduct of mass testing of persons suspected of being infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. on Monday.

"Nag-usap na po kami ni Secretary Duque, uunahin po nating tapusin ang NCR kasi ang NCR ang epicenter...." Galvez, the chief implementer of the national policy against COVID-19, said during a virtual press briefing.

"Ang sumunod po na apektado ay 'yung Region IV, Region III and then Davao Region and Zamboanga Region," he added.

The total number of persons under investigation who needs to be tested has reached 13,025, Galvez said.

"Ito po ay kakayanin nating ma-test sa mga susunod na araw. Mayroon na po tayong 89,938 test kits na available kaya kayang-kaya po nating gawin ito sa mga susunod na araw," he said.

Earlier, the Department of Health said almost 23,000 tests for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have already been conducted.

The agency noted that the majority of the tests have yielded negative results.

"We have a total of 22,958 tests conducted. Out of these, 16,615 or 82.7% turned out negative and 3,414 or 16.9% turned out positive," DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire had said. —LDF, GMA News
