Duterte’s ‘modified quarantine’ remark referred to shift to GCQ in other areas — Roque

President Rodrigo Duterte was referring to the upcoming shift to a general community quarantine in several parts of the country when he pushed for a partial reopening of the economy on Monday, his spokesperson said Tuesday.

Duterte said in a televised address on Monday night that the government might ease restrictions to allow people to work.

Starting May 1, areas in the country with low and moderate risk of outbreak will be under GCQ while strict confinement measures will remain in localities under the enhanced community quarantine until May 15.

“Dahil by May 1 meron nang GCQ, we have partially reopened the economy,” Roque said.

Areas under ECQ would undergo evaluation if the restrictions could be relaxed starting May 16, the government had said. — RSJ, GMA News
