Health workers with COVID-19 now 2,314; 938 recovered

The number of health workers who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has climbed to 2,314, the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that 938 of these patients have already recovered from the respiratory illness.

The other 1,341 are active cases or undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Of this number, 992 are mild cases, 344 are asymptomatic, four are in severe condition, while one patient is critical.

Meanwhile, the death toll has remained at 35 since May 11.

The five medical professions with the highest number of COVID-19 cases are nurses with 841 cases, doctors with 671, nursing assistants with 144, medical technologists with 84, and radiologic technologists with 42.

Over 280 other non-medical workers were also included in the tally.

While the DOH noted that the number of healthcare workers with COVID-19 has been decreasing in recent days, medical professionals still account for 19 percent of the total infections nationwide.

The Philippines has logged 12,718 cases with 2,729 recoveries and 831 deaths as of Monday afternoon. —LDF, GMA News
