NBI arrests businessman Francis Leo Marcos


The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested businessman Francis Leo Marcos for alleged violation of the optometry law.

Marcos was arrested by the NBI's cybercrime division over a case in Baguio City for violation of Republic Act No. 8050, Isa Avendaño-Umali reported on Dobol B sa News TV.

Details were not immediately available as of posting time.

Cybercrime division chief Victor Lorenzo said agents arrested Marcos in Quezon City on Tuesday morning on the strength of a warrant of arrest from a Baguio court.

Marcos allegedly distributed eyeglasses without the approval and permission of the Philippine association of optometrists, he said.

Lorenzo said the NBI is also verifying charges against Marcos for qualified human trafficking and violence against women. The businessman is also being investigated by different units of the NBI, the official said.
