The Department of Education (DepEd) is looking over several offers of broadcast and communications services as it plans to implement distance learning, Secretary Leonor Briones said on Tuesday.
In a public briefing, Briones said DepEd is looking for the most appropriate services for specific areas.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, DepEd decided to resume classes through distance learning, in which students do not have to go to school to participate in classes to avoid possible transmission of the virus.
The department has been preparing for ways to deliver education to students through self-learning modules, broadcast media, and the internet.
The DepEd had yet to provide a list of the specific offers from private entities that volunteered to provide free broadcast and internet services.
The resumption of classes was scheduled to start on August 24. — DVM, GMA News
