House of Representatives reports 50th COVID-19 case

The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the House of Representatives increased to 50 on Friday after another congressional staffer tested positive for the illness.

According to House Secretary-General Jose Luis Montales, the patient reported for work on August 17 and August 18.

The employee did not have close contact with any of the other confirmed cases in Congress.

Montales said contact tracing efforts were underway.

The Philippines reported a total of 178,022 COVID-19 cases with 114,114 recoveries and 2,883 fatalities. — DVM, GMA News
