Angel Locsin says yes to red lipstick, no to red-tagging

Actress Angel Locsin on Friday denied that she was a communist a few days after a general indicated that her sister was an insurgent and added that it was something the actress would not want the public to know.

In an Instagram post, Locsin said that having a view different from that of the government or the military didn't men that she was a communist.

“We live in a country where our freedom to speak and express ourselves are enshrined and protected by the constitution. May paniniwala ako, may paniniwala ka. At sa ilalim ng consitution, pareho tayong mayroon karapatan sa ating nga sariling paniniwala,” Locsin said in an Instagram post.

“Kung mag kaiba tayo, hindi ibig sabihin pwede mo na ako i-red tag. Hindi tayo magkakalaban dito. Hindi rin ako ‘red’. Magkaiba lang tayo ng paniniwala,” she added.

Posting a picture in which she had a red dress and red lipstick, the actress played with words in her hashtags #notoredtagging and #yestoredlipstick.

Locsin also denied that her sister Ella Colmenares and cousin Neri Colmenares were members of the New People's Army.

'The choice is yours'

In a statement, AFP Southern Luzon Command commander Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade warned actress Liza Soberano and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray of being associated with the women's rights group Gabriela.

"The choice is yours, Liza and so with you, Catriona..." Parlade added.

Parlade even advised them not to follow the path of one Ka Ella Colmenares.

"I am sure Angel Locsin and Neri Colmenares will not tell you this," Parlade said.

Neri, a lawyer and a former congressman, is a member of the Bayan Muna party-list.

Gabriela and Bayan Muna are one of the groups that the military had tagged as legal fronts of the Communist Party of the Philippines. -NB, GMA News
