Bato hospitalized due to COVID-19 but now 'improving'

Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa is currently confined in the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19, his office told reporters on Thursday.

The 58-year-old senator developed fever, cough, and colds. He was admitted at a hospital on midnight of November 23 so that he can be monitored better.

Dela Rosa's health condition is now "improving," his staff said.

Last week, the senator posted a photo of himself in a hospital bed.

The lawmaker first announced he tested positive for COVID-19 on November 21, after the senators wrapped up the period of debates for the 2021 budget.

He and his daughter, driver, and house helper all got infected with the virus.

Dela Rosa was the fifth senator to be infected with COVID-19 this year. His colleagues, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senators Sonny Angara, Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel, and Ramon "Bong" Revilla all recovered from the disease.
