Robredo frets over delay in arrival of COVID-19 vaccines

Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday expressed worry over the delay in the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines, which was initially set for the second week of February.

In her radio program, Robredo noted that some neighboring countries had started their vaccination rollout.

“Nakakabahala talaga kasi lalo na kapag araw-araw pinapanood at saka binabasa natin iyong lahat na mga balita na maraming mga lugar sa buong mundo na nagbabakuna na,” she said.

According to Robredo, some countries that had not started their inoculation rollout had fewer COVID-19 cases compared to the Philippines.

“Halimbawa dito sa Southeast Asia, parang Thailand, kung hindi ako nagkakamali South Korea paumpisa pa lang. Pero sa kanila kasi, Ka Ely, hindi mataas iyong kaso so walang sense of urgency," she said.

“Sa atin, Ka Ely, mataas iyong kaso natin, eh, so dapat mas urgent dapat iyong ating response,” she added.

On Friday, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. apologized for the delay in the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines.

Galvez expressed uncertainty if the arrival of the first batch of vaccines would even push through within the month. — DVM, GMA News
