StaySafe.Ph contact tracing app turned over to gov't

Developer MultiSys Technologies Corp. on Monday turned over contact tracing application StaySafe.PH to the government.

The memorandum of agreement on the turnover of the app, which will be used nationwide, was signed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, MultySys, among others.

With the turnover, the DILG said other contact tracing apps of local government units now can be interoperable with the StaySafe.PH app.

The StaySafe.ph System will be used as the primary contact tracing system in the country. Other contact tracing apps will also be integrated into this system.

Multisys CEO David Almirol Jr. said StaySafe.PH has different features such as the following:

  • citizens registration
  • health condition reporting
  • social distancing system
  • COVID-19 updates
  • contact tracing for
  • real-time case management of local government units
  • establishment of protection system
  • LGU heat map and response system
  • information dissemination for LGUs.

Almirol added that app displayed dashboards, reports, real-time monitoring, graphs, and inforgraphics related to the pandemic and response.

So far, he said 200,000 establishments and around 700 LGUs in the country had been using the StaySafe.PH app.

DILG officer-in-charge Undersecretary Bernardo Florece Jr. encouraged LGUs to use the app or integrate their existing contacting tracing app to its system.

“The platform will be only be effective when everybody is using it . So we at the DILG are calling on our LGUs to use the StaySafe application or integrate it to the system to ensure the success of the full implementation of our national contact tracing system,” he said during the virtual signing ceremony.

Earlier, contact tracing czar Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Tuesday said the problems over the government obtaining the app would be resolved by March 22.

He said the delay in the turnover of the contact tracing app stemmed from the condition set by the government that the developer should first complete the system.

Aside from this, the government also wanted Multisys to cut its link to the app once it was obtained. --NB, GMA News
