Because most COVID-19 patients treated in hospitals have mild symptoms, severe and moderate COVID-19 cases are compelled to stay and get treated at home, according to Vonne Aquino's report on 24 Oras Weekend.

In an interview with Supar Radyo dzBB, Dr. Jaime Almora, President of the Philippine Hospital Association, there was a rise in infections among families and workplaces.

"The real warfare now is not in the hospitals. Ang warfare nasa bahay-bahay nila. Nasa loob na mismo ng pamilya, nasa loob ng mga opisina," he said.

(The fight against COVID-19 is being waged at homes, in families, in workplaces.)

With this, San Lazaro Hospital's infectious disease specialist Dr. Rontgene Solante encouraged patients with mild symptoms to seek home treatment instead of going to medical facilities.

""Kapag mild, ubo lang, lagnat tapos walang hingal, tignan mo kung walang hingal kasi ibig sabihin pwede na lang sa bahay. Bigyan ng eksaktong fluid rehydration, pag inom ng tubig, pagkain at obserbahan at minomonitor. Kung nababahala sa lagnat, bigyan ng paracetamol," Solante said on dzBB.

(Those with mild infections don't need to go to hospitals, just stay isolated at home. If there are rooms, you can isolate them there.)

The Department of Health said 98. 4% of the 795,051 total COVID-19 cases in the country are asymptomatic or mild cases. Only 0.6% are severe and critical cases. — Consuelo Marquez/DVM, GMA News
