Philippines logs 10,098 new COVID-19 cases, 72,607 new recoveries


The Philippines on Sunday registered 10,098 new cases of the coronavirus disease, increasing the total COVID-19 tally to 936,133 while seven laboratories failed to submit their data.

This as the Department of Health (DOH) reported 141,089 active cases of COVID-19, most of which were mild cases.

Of the total number of active cases, 96.7% are mild, 1.7% are asymptomatic, 0.7% are severe, and 0.5% are in critical condition.

The country's total count recoveries reached 779,084, which includes the 72,607 new recoveries.

The nation's death toll climbed to 15,960 after 150 more patients succumbed to the disease.

Data from the DOH showed that 68% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized while 47% of the mechanical ventilators are occupied.
