Schedule of rotational power interruptions in Meralco franchise area on June 2, 2021

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on Wednesday announced that rotational brownouts may be implemented in some areas as the Luzon Grid is placed under Yellow and Red alert statuses due to power supply deficiency.

“Ayon sa National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, magkakaroon ng low power supply ngayong June 2 sa Luzon Grid,” Meralco said in an advisory.

(According to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines, there will be low power supply this June 2 in the Luzon Grid.)

“Dahil dito, pwedeng magkaroon ng rotational brownouts sa inyong area,” it added.

(Because of this, rotational brownouts may be implemented in your area.)

The grid operator placed the Luzon grid under Yellow Alert from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and from 11 p.m. to 12 a.m.; and Red Alert from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., indicating that there is zero ancillary services or a generation deficiency exists.
