Mayor Sara Duterte: Too early to decide on running for President in Eleksyon 2022

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said she has yet to decide whether to run or not for President in next year's elections.

"Maaga pa naman. Hindi natin alam kung ano ang mangyayari tomorrow," she said in an exclusive interview with GMA News' Ian Cruz on Tuesday.

(It it still early to decide; we don't know what will happen by tomorrow.)

"We still have until October 8, iyong deadline ng filing ng candidacy (the deadline for filing of candidacy)," she added.

Mayor Duterte, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, was referring to the filing of candidacy for candidates for President and Vice President set on October 1 to 8 by the Commission on Elections.

Individuals, however, are allowed to substitute for candidates until the middle of December this year.

Mayor Sara was in Manila on Tuesday because she attended the birthday celebration of the late Senator Miriam Santiago in Ortigas City.

The Davao City Mayor said there was no talk about politics during the event.

"Walang napag-usapang politics sa taas, walang napag-usapang lineup for senator, Vice President," she said.

(We did not talk about politics or a lineup for senatorial slate or a vice presidential candidate.)
