‘GODSPEED, PARENG NOY’

Ex-VP Binay mourns passing of Noynoy Aquino

Former Vice President Jejomar Binay condoled with the family of former President Benigno Aquino III, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 61.

Binay was Aquino’s vice president from 2010 to 2016.

The veteran politician had been serving as Aquino’s housing chief until he parted ways with the administration in June 2015 amid corruption allegations made against him by the former president’s political allies.

“Noynoy and I may have had political differences during the last few years of his term, but that will not diminish the many years of friendship between our families,” Binay said.

It was Aquino’s mother, the late former President Corazon Aquino, who appointed Binay as acting Makati mayor shortly after the People Power Revolution in 1986.

“My deepest condolences to the family. Godspeed, Pareng Noy,” Binay said. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
