Philippines administers over 17 million COVID-19 vaccine doses —DOH


The Philippines has administered over 17 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday.

In its latest update, the DOH said that of the 17,202,421 doses, a total of 11,113,107 Filipinos have received at least one dose against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Of this, 1,945,838 were frontline healthcare workers, 2,836,224 were senior citizens, 3,617,104 were persons with comorbidities, 2,288,859 were essential workers, and 425,082 were indigents.

Meanwhile, 6,089,314 Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against the illness.

Of this, 1,396,737 were frontline healthcare workers, 1,600,558 were senior citizens, 2,050,279 were persons with comorbidities, 812,141 were essential workers, and 229,599 were indigents.

According to the DOH, the country administered a total of 2,106,160 doses last week with a daily average of 300,880.

“Our defense against COVID-19 and its variants is by following the minimum public health standards and getting vaccinated,” the DOH said.

“Let's remember to properly wear our masks and face shields, observe physical distancing, wash our hands, and ensure there is ventilation when we are indoors,” it added.

The Philippines has logged a total of 1,543,281 confirmed cases, of which 1,461,749 have recovered and 27,131 have died. —KG, GMA News
