Philippines receives over 415k doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from UK

A total of 415,040 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine donated by the United Kingdom arrived in the Philippines on Monday.

The latest batch arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 past 4:30 p.m.

Earlier, Britain Ambassador Daniel Pruce said the doses would support the Philippines’s vaccine roll-out program.

“The UK is helping COVID-19 vaccines reach more countries. We are donating 415,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to the Philippines so that more people here can get vaccinated,” Pruce said in a statement

The Philippines officially rolled out its vaccination program on March 1.

Vaccine brands delivered to the Philippines to date include Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and Sputnik V.

The country has so far inoculated over 11 million individuals, still far from the government’s goal of vaccinating 70 million people.—LDF, GMA News
