Doctor survives after train hits, drags her SUV in Manila

A doctor managed to survive after her SUV got hit then dragged by a train of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) in Sampaloc, Manila.

In a "24 Oras" report by Corinne Catibayan on Friday, a CCTV footage showed an SUV traversing P. Margal Street, Barangay 474 on Thursday night.

The vehicle waited for a dog to cross the street before proceeding.

But as the SUV moved foward, a train of the PNR passed through, hitting and dragging the vehicle.

The SUV's left side and the window from the driver's side were destroyed.

The doctor, who is working at the Chinese General Hospital, said she came from duty and was supposed to collect payments for her house for rent.

According to the doctor, she did not see the PNR personnel waving signs because the place was dark. She also did not hear the sirens of the train.

Barangay officials immediately responded on the matter.

The doctor did not sustain any injury.

The SUV was removed from the scene at about 9 p.m., while the train stopped at the Laon Laan station.

The management of the PNR has yet to give a statement that beams or barriers were absent at the intersection of the railways. —Jamil Santos/NB, GMA News
