1.5 million government-procured Sinovac doses arrive

The Philippines on Friday received 1.5 million additional doses of Sinovac vaccine.

According to the National Task Force Against COVID-19, Flight PR359 carrying the vaccines landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 at 5:55 p.m.

The NTF said the vaccine were procured by the Philippine government.

“We’re expecting two more deliveries, 3 million next week… So another 6 million tapos may 4 million may darating din from COVAX,” NTF special adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa said.

“So next week we are expecting 10 million more to continue our vaccination sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Pilipinas. ‘Yung COVAX Astra ‘yun,” he added.

Herbosa said the vaccines will be distributed by Monday.

“So ito, mag-stay pa rin ito because we will wait for the certificate of analysis (COA) na ‘yung consent by a third party. So that comes in two to three days,” he said.

“Once the COA arrives, we immediately distribute to the different recipient areas.”

Earlier, an additional 502,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrived.

The Philippines has administered a total of 37,176,513 doses while more than 15 million individuals have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the country has logged a total of 2,179,770 confirmed cases, of which 1,969,401 have recovered and 34,899 have died.—LDF, GMA News
