Galvez: Priority list to remain amid ‘vax to the max’ campaign

Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. on Thursday said the national vaccination program's priority list will remain amid its "vax to the max" scheme.

"We're expanding just to increase the capacity but we are not disregarding the priorities because sinasabi nga ng DOH at WHO, the burden of disease, of the death, is still focused on the prioritization," Galvez said in a report on "24 Oras."

Earlier, Galvez said the government is considering a "vax to the max" campaign that will allow anyone to get inoculated.

He said the private sector wants to ramp up vaccination to achieve 1.5 million jabs per day.

Galvez also previously said finding COVID-19 vaccine supplies is no longer a problem for the country.

So far, 24,298,753 Filipinos have received full doses of COVID-19 vaccines, which is 31.76% of the country's eligible population, he said.

Metro Manila remained the top region with the highest percentage of vaccinated individuals, with 80% of its population already fully inoculated against COVID-19.

With this, Galvez said they will now ramp up the vaccination rollout in provinces.

"Kailangan talagang mag-ramp up ng number of people, number of posts. Kung kailangan pa, baka kailangan pang mag-invest nang kaunti sa freezers, cold chain, and transport," League of Provinces of the Philippines national chairman Governor Dax Cua said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
