Paolo Duterte throws support behind Bongbong's prexy bid

Davao City Representative Paolo Duterte, son of President Rodrigo Duterte, has thrown his support to the presidential bid of former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in the 2022 elections.

"From the start pa po BBM (Marcos' initials) na ako," Rep. Duterte said in a Viber message to GMA News.

Marcos' running-mate is Rep. Duterte's sister, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. They are running under the Lakas-CMD banner.

President Duterte earlier called Marcos "a weak leader" as he ruled out a coalition with Lakas-CMD. He even called Marcos Jr. as a "spoiled child," adding that he does not believe in the latter's capabilities to lead the nation.

Marcos' camp has shrugged off President Duterte's taunts, saying Marcos still still respects him.

President Duterte has endorsed the presidential candidacy of his longtime aide, Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go.

Go has said he is withdrawing his presidential candidacy but has yet to formalize it with the Commission on Elections (Comelec). —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
