Ex-assemblyman Rafael Recto dies at 76 - report

MANILA, Philippines - Former assemblyman Rafael "Raffy" Recto, father of former senator Ralph Recto, died in his Quezon City home reportedly due to multiple organ failure, radio reports said. He was 76. The reports said that the elder Recto died inside his home at Green Meadows Subdivision in Quezon City about 8:30 p.m. Monday. Attending doctors were quoted as saying that he passed away due to complications brought by his long-standing heart ailment. In 1994, he was diagnosed with aortic aneurism. A Mass will be held at the Loyola Chapels in Guadalupe, Makati City at 3 p.m. today (Tuesday), before Recto's remains are to be cremated and brought to the Sanctuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park. The report quoted former congressman and Recto's son Richard or "Ricky" as saying they would just be announcing where the remains of his father would be laid to rest. Recto is survived by his wife Carmen Gonzales-Recto and his four children: Ralph, Ricky, Ramon, and actress Plinky Recto. - GMANews.TV
