Report: Albay broadcaster arrested on rape charge

MANILA, Philippines — A controversial radio broadcaster was arrested in Camarines Sur province over allegations of rape Friday afternoon, a radio report said. Bombo Radyo reported that Inspector Jong Echaluce, operations chief of the Naga City Police, arrested Ariel Ayque in Barangay San Francisco. The report said Ayque did not resist arrest after seeing the warrant issued by the Legazpi City Regional Trial Court Branch 7. Rape charges were lodged against Ayque, who was accused of assaulting his household helper in November 2007. Ayque worked at local radio stations dzRC, dzGB, dwZR, and dwRL in Albay before he was charged. He is now detained at the Naga City Police Station. - GMANews.TV
