Suspect in killing of cop, journalist falls in Mis Occ

MANILA, Philippines - A suspect in the killing of a police officer as well in slaying of a local broadcaster has fallen into government hands, a regional police director said Monday. Nabbed was Joel Jumalon, who was accosted 7:30 a.m. by elements of the Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Office, said Chief Superintendent Danilo Empedrad, Police Regional Office 10 director. Empedrad said Jumalon was arrested together with one Jeffrey Alson over the killing of SPO1 Juanito Dominguez on May 24 in Oroquieta City. The suspects are both residents of Calamba in Misamis Occidental. Empedrad said the suspects were positively identified by the slain police officer's wife as well as other witnesses. Incidentally, Jumalon is also a suspect in the killing of broadcast journalist Ernesto Rollin. Rollin, a presenter on local radio dxSY-AM in Ozamiz City, was gunned down at close range at about 5:30 a.m. on February 23 in a service station in Oroquieta City. At least two men wearing caps and ski masks aboard a motorcycle shot him, then checked to see he was dead before they drove away. Rollin was on his way to host his 7:30-9:00 a.m. program when he was shot. A task force had been earlier set up to go after Rollin's killers. - GMANews.TV
