Mindanao media group donates relief goods for survivors of Iligan flood

ILIGAN CITY – Members of a media group in Mindanao have pooled resources and solicited donations for survivors of the deadly flash flood in the city spawned by Tropical Storm Sendong (Washi). The Manggagawang Media ng Mindanao (MMM), a two-year old media organization, and some of whose members were also affected by Sendong's flood, managed to donate relief goods such as rice, bottled water and used clothing to the survivors. Led by its president Tony Abejo of Malindang Tribune, the MMM team brought the relief items to Iligan City from Oroquieta City in Misamis Occidental. Abejo thanked the employees of Plaridel municipal treasurers' office headed by Mayor Agnes Villanueva and Vice Mayor James Tan, and the kind-hearted people of Calamba town and in Oroquieta City for their donations and support. “I know the donation that we have solicited is so small, but this could help the survivors in some little way. We in the MMM have volunteered to bring the goods to Iligan,” Abejo said. Meanwhile, Mr. Frank Dosdos of Iligan's dxRJ radio voiced his sorrow over the death of a colleague, Leonesid Alsonado of RMN-DxIC, in the flood, noting that another broadcaster, Michael Kundiman of dxRJ, is still missing. — Mariz Revales /LBG, GMA News
