Suspected Abu Sayyaf member arrested in Zamboanga City


Combined police and military operatives arrested on Wednesday a suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) during an operation in Zamboanga City, a report on News To Go on Thursday said. 

Authorities arrested Adam Mahamdom alias Junior Hali in an old public market downtown Zamboanga at around 10 a.m.

Mahamdom has a standing warrant of arrest for eight counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 9 in Basilan.

He was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of eight workers at the Golden Harvest Plantation in the village of Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan in 2001. 

Mahamdom was also allegedly involved in the 2001 siege in Lamitan, Basilan. 

The arrest of Mahamdom has a monetary reward of P600,000. 

The suspected ASG member was turned over by the Zamboanga City Police Office to the custody of the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group. —Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/KG, GMA News
