Cagayan town mayor tagged by Duterte surrenders to police

Mayor Marjorie Salazar of Lasam, Cagayan surrendered on Sunday, hours after President Rodrigo Duterte named her as one of the public officials involved in drugs.

Salazar surrendered and submitted herself for investigation at the Lasam Police Station.

The mayor was expected to be brought to the Police Regional Office 2 (Cagayan Valley).

Senior Superintendent Ronaldo Olay, director of the Cagayan Police Provincial Office, said they have also started investigations against Police Officer 3 Rodel Sambolledo of the Lal-lo Police Station.

Sambolledo's name is also included in the list of 159 people, including local court judges, incumbent and former local officials and police officers, read out by Duterte in Davao City early Sunday.

The police officer has yet to surrender.

Three local officials have also surrendered to the police, including Mayor Goto Violago of San Rafael, Bulacan, on Sunday. The two other local officials have yet to be named by the police.

Former Cebu City mayor Michael Rama has assured that he will cooperate with the authorities' investigations. He has denied that he is involved in drugs. —ALG, GMA News
