Frustrated murder complaint filed vs. suspects in shooting of Pangasinan journo

The Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) of the Philippine National Police on Thursday formally charged the suspects involved in the shooting of a radio commentator in Pangasinan.

A progress report from the SITG submitted to the Presidential Task Force on Media Security said Michael Tagle and Junard Franza were slapped with a frustrated murder complaint before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office for shooting commentator Virgilio Maganes.

The police said both Tagle and Franza are members of a gun-for-hire group operating in Pangasinan.

Maganes was shot by the suspects onboard a motorcycle on November 8 about 5:40 a.m. in Barangay Poblacion Zone 1 in Villasis, Pangasinan.

He survived the shooting, only sustaining a bullet graze on the right side of his body.

Maganes is a radio commentator of DWPR Radyo Asenso Dagupan City and a columnist of Northern Watch Newspaper. — Joseph Tristan Roxas/RSJ, GMA News
