Faeldon Jr. faces raps over presence at suspected drug den

The son of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) director Nicanor Faeldon had no illegal drugs on him but his presence at a suspected drug is enough for policemen to file complaint against him.

In an interview on GMA News TV's "Quick Response Team," Naga City chief of police Senior Superintendent Felix Servita, Jr. said drug possession charges will be filed against Russel Lanuzo, whose residence was the subject of the search warrant.

Nicanor Faeldon Jr., Allan Valdez and Manuel Nebres were arrested and are facing charges as they were in the premises when the police conducted the search at the Lanuzo residence and found illegal drugs.

Servita said policemen Faeldon was not in possession of any illegal drug.

"Kaya nga inapplyan natin ng search warrant nung ni-raid natin ang area, ang bahay, doon na lang  natin nalaman na nandoon pala sa loob si Nicanor Faeldon, Jr. at hindi rin natin inaasahan 'to," Servita said.

Faeldon Sr., who resigned from the Bureau of Customs last year following the controversy over the smuggling of P6.4-billion worth of shabu from China, had remarked that he would resign from his post and kill his son if the latter would be proven guilty.

As the investigation continued on Friday afternoon, the Naga police chief vowed they would be fair in handling the case.

"Ang imbestigasyon naman natin ay magiging fair at kung ano 'yung magiging ebidensiya na nakuha natin during the search warrant at ang mga witnesses ay 'yun po ang magiging basehan natin sa pag-file ng kaso," Servita said. —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
