P1-million reward put up for info on kidnapping of British national, Pinay wife


The provincial government of Zamboanga del Sur announced on Saturday it is offering a P1-million reward for anyone who can give information that would lead to the arrest of the kidnappers of a British national and his Filipina wife.

The couple on Friday night at the beach resort owned by the couple in Barangay Alindahaw, Tukuran town.

The Zamboanga Provincial Government announced the reward on its Facebook account.

It added that the government is doing all it can to rescue the couple.

“The Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur is exhausting all measures to rescue the lives of the... couple who were abducted by unidentified gunmen at their resort in Tukuran on Friday night," the post read.

Troops were placed on full alert in coastal municipalities, it added.

"Board Member John Regala, Chairperson of the Committee on Peace and Order, thru the order of Prov’l. Chairman of Peace and Order Council Gov. Victor J. Yu, has raised full alert status to all troops in coastal municipalities of the province for possible blocking of the suspects," the post read.

"The provincial government is in close coordination with law enforcement agencies in their joint efforts to solve this case as soon as possible," it added.

Authorities said the kidnapping is an isolated case.

"This is an isolated case and rest assured the entire Zamboanga del Sur remains safe and generally peaceful. Let us remain calm and vigilant. Report any information you can give to our Provincial Information Officer Jeesrel Himang 09098947989 or to nearest Police Station in your area," the announcement read. —Aude Hampong/KG, GMA News
