78-year-old breaks down over lack of cash aid

A 78-year-old Rizal local broke down due to the uncertainty of receiving the cash aid under the government's social amelioration program.

Aside from his wife suffering a stroke, Jose Lagunbay was also caring for one of their children who had a disability, according to Maki Pulido's Tuesday report on "24 Oras."

"Mahirap para sa amin. Hirap na hirap na ako. 'Yung asawa ko hindi makatayo, hindi makalakad. Kaya gusto ko nang maghuramentado. Wala man lang dumating sa amin," Lagunbay said.

His other child, meanwhile, were unable to provide him with any assistance since the enhanced community quarantine had kept them from earning a living as well.

"Gusto ko lang malaman kung mayroon kaming makukuha," said Lagunbay.

Lagunbay was only one of the many residents in Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez who were unsure of receiving the cash aid. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
