IAS to probe alleged mauling of a quarantine violator in Cavite — Gamboa
The Philippine National Police (PNP) will look into the alleged mauling incident of a quarantine violator in General Trias, Cavite, its chief said on Monday.
In a radio interview, PNP chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said he already talked to Police Regional Office - CALABARZON chief Police Brigadier General Vicente Danao regarding the incident, adding that the Internal Affairs Service will also conduct an investigation on it.
"We will still look into it and it will be investigated also by the IAS kung meron bang paglabag na nangyari doon on the part of the police," Gamboa said.
PNP spokesman Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac said the provincial IAS is already looking into the incident.
"After completion, PIAS will forward the result to RIAS, then onto IAS at Camp Crame," he said in a text message.
On Saturday, Cavite Provincial Police Office director Police Colonel Marlon Santos denied that the police officers physically harmed alleged quarantine violator Ronald Campo.
Santos narrated that in the early morning of Wednesday, May 13, Campo was held under the custody of the General Trias Police Station for "violation of Liquor Ban, Curfew and no Quarantine Pass."
Police claimed that Campo was intoxicated and attempted to escape several times that caused bruises and injuries on his body.
