Vigan City secures over 100,000 doses of AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine

The Vigan City government on Sunday secured 100,000 to 120,000 doses of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine developed by Oxford University in partnership with British-Swedish drugmaker AstraZeneca.

“We ordered doses enough to vaccinate all residents of Vigan City, aged 18 years old and above,” Mayor Carlo Medina said in a statement.

The doses were secured through a multilateral agreement that includes the National Task Force Against COVID-19 and the Department of Health.

“This early, we advise the public to educate themselves about COVID-19 vaccines. Let us use the advances in science to our advantage. Make sure that you get hold of appropriate and accurate information regarding vaccines. It will save lives,” Medina said.

Several local government units earlier announced that they allotted millions of pesos for the procurement of vaccines for their residents.
