Baguio LGU keeping a close watch on UK COVID-19 variant contacts

Baguio City health officials were keeping a close watch on several locals who had direct contact with two UK COVID-19 variant cases.

According to a Saturday News TV Live bulletin, Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong  revealed that several of his constituents had direct contact with the grandchild of the first Philippine UK variant fatality.

The grandchild was positive for COVID-19, but it was not yet known if the grandchild had the UK variant.

Meanwhile, several Baguio locals who were coworkers of another UK variant case had also tested positive for COVID-19.

Samples taken from these contacts were being genome sequenced.

According to the Health Department, there were 44 UK variant cases across the country as of February 12. — DVM, GMA News
