Two suspected members of terrorist group Dawlah Islamiya were killed in an operation in Polomolok, South Cotabato on Tuesday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday.

In a statement, PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas said the suspects Jourhan Palalisan Utap  and Mohaimen Palalisan Utap are suspected members of Dawlah Islamiya-SOCSARGEN KHATIBA under Ali Boy Nilong.

The two allegedly engaged in an armed encounter with the PNP Special Action Force and Police Regional Office 12 operatives in Sitio Bio, Purok 4, Barangay Lapu.

Citing reports from PRO-12, Sinas said the arresting team was serving a warrant of arrest against Jourhan but the suspect and his younger brother Mohaimen  resisted.

Both suspects were declared dead by attending physicians at the Polomolok Municipal Hospital, according to PNP.

Troops recovered a caliber.45 pistol, a caliber.357 revolver, and five small plastic sachets of suspected shabu from the suspects.
