Duterte signs law dividing Rizal's second district into three

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday signed into law a measure seeking to reapportion of the second legislative district of Rizal into three, which will take effect in the 2022 polls.

Under Republic Act 11533, the following areas will remain with the second district:

1. Cardona
2. Baras
3. Tanay
4. Morong
5. Jala-Jala
6. Pililia
7. Teresa

San Mateo will be comprise the third legislative district while Rodriguez  will be the fourth.

The first district will still be made up of the following local government units:

1. Angono
2. Binangonan
3. Cainta
4. Taytay

Also under the measure, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will create implementing rules and regulations within 30 days after the effectivity of the law.

The law will be effective at least 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or newspaper of general circulation. --NB, GMA News
