Sara Duterte visits injured C-130 victims; inks sister city pact in Zamboanga

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Thursday went to Zamboanga City to visit the injured soldiers in the C-130 military plane crash and signed a memorandum of agreement with the sister city.

In Sandra Aguinaldo's "24 Oras" report, the president's daughter witnessed the situation of military men who were hurt in the deadly military cargo plane mishap. The soldiers were being treated at Zamboanga City Medical Center.

"This is a goodwill visit of Davao City to the soldiers at ipinaabot namin sa kanila ang aming mga get well soon wishes. (we sent them our well wishes.)," Duterte said.

Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco and Duterte also inked the sister city agreement. The two mayors have been friends since 2020 when they attended the International Visitor Leadership Program organized by the US Department of State.

Climaco welcomed Duterte's visit, adding that they are supporting her advocacies.

"We support Mayor Inday Duterte in whatever advocacy she has because we feel that as a woman mayor she is making a difference for the lives of people as an example for soldiers right now," said the Zamboanga mayor.

Earlier, Anthony del Rosario, secretary general of Duterte's party Hugpong ng Pagbabago, told reporters that Duterte's visit in Zamboanga is not related to Eleksyon 2022. He further said it is only a renewal of support between Duterte and Climaco.

"This is not something new and this is not done because there is a national campaign next year. It has nothing to do with the national elections," he added.

In the June 2021 Pulse Asia survey results, Duterte topped the list of preferred presidential candidates for 2022 polls. She is also the most preferred second choice for the presidency.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
