Thirteen fairy penguins from an endangered colony are found dead in and around the Sydney suburb of Manly in Australia. When the news breaks that they could have been killed by dogs or foxes, tensions rise between local conservationists and dog owners who believe their pets should be able to freely roam the beaches where the penguins live. Poison traps are laid. Snipers take up positions on the beach. Will the mystery killer be found?
At one park in Hamburg, Germany during the spring mating season, the toads are swelling up and exploding for no apparent reason. What could be causing this strange phenomenon?
In England, an aquarium curator has spent years carefully cultivating a unique display of endangered corals. Then, to his horror, the precious corals begin to disappear one by one every night. After exhausting all other ways to find the culprit, he takes the drastic step of disassembling the entire tank to the detriment of the corals. Will he find the aquarium’s coral thief before it’s too late?
