DMW: 19 OFWs, 3 children repatriated from Lebanon

A total of 19 overseas Filipino workers along with three children arrived from Lebanon on Thursday, August 1, after seeking repatriation amid the ongoing tension between Israel and the militant group Hamas.

In a statement posted on its Facebook account, the Department of Migrant Workers said the Filipino repatriates arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 via Qatar Airways.

The OFWs were each provided with  a financial assistance of P100,000, a comprehensive reintegration assistance, and job facilitation services, all courtesy of the DWM and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development also provided each of them with livelihood assistance of P20,000, while the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority will provide skills training vouchers.

The Department of Health, meanwhile, checked on the health conditions of the returning OFWs.

With the latest repatriation, the DWM said that there are now 1,085 OFWs and 43 dependents who returned from Lebanon because of the continuing conflict between the Israel Defense Forces and Hamas. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
