44 OFWs from Israel, Dubai return to PH amid Middle East conflict
A total of 44 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Israel and Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Wednesday amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In social media posts, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said 16 OFWs arrived from Israel by crossing the Taba Border to Egypt.
From Egypt, they took a flight to Oman before traveling to the Philippines.
They arrived at NAIA Terminal 1 at 9 p.m.
Meanwhile, 25 OFWs and one dependent arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3.
All of the arriving OFWs were welcomed by DMW and other concerned agencies as part of the government’s post-arrival assistance.
The OFWs will receive financial and medical assistance, as well as psychosocial counseling, food, and accommodation and transportation assistance.
Conflict in the Middle East escalated after the United States and Israel launched attacks against Iran on February 28.
This prompted some overseas Filipino workers in the Middle East to return home, with another group of 63 Filipino repatriates arriving from Oman and Qatar earlier today.
