Italy-based woman is other Filipino tourist killed in Germany bus crash

ROME/PRAGUE — The other Filipino tourist who died in a tragic bus crash near Munich, Germany, is a 27-year-old woman based in Italy, German police confirmed.

In a report, police in the German state of Bavaria said the second deceased was identified on Sunday night.

“The second deceased person was identified yesterday evening. She is a 27-year-old Filipino national who resided in Italy," the report said.

German police said 17 people were initially classified as seriously injured, but all are now out of danger according to the latest report.

"Thirteen other people were slightly injured and were cared for by the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) in Landsberg am Lech until late in the evening.” the German police report said.

The other Filipino fatality was said to be a man, a member of the Association of Novo Ecijanos in Milan.

Representatives from the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Frankfurt are coordinating with hospitals where the injured passengers were taken, one of the mission’s staff members told GMA News.

The bus was traveling from Milan to Munich with a group of Filipino passengers headed to Oktoberfest. The Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt confirmed that approximately 33 Filipino nationals were on board.

The other individual who died–a 58-year-old Filipino–was reportedly seated near the middle door together with his wife, while the second victim was reportedly seated toward the rear of the coach.

German police said a public prosecutor’s office had “already commissioned accident analysis reports” to clarify its cause and course.

The two Italian bus drivers, largely unharmed in the accident, are also being investigated for “negligent homicide”, local media reported.

The Philippine Consulates General in Frankfurt and Milan are coordinating with the victims’ families. –NB, GMA News
