Three Filipinos were wounded in the attack on Riyadh International Airport in Saudi Arabia, two of whom remain in intensive care, the Department of Migrant Workers said Sunday.

“Walang ulat na Pilipino na nasawi at tayo ay nakikiisa at nakikiramay sa mga nasawi na sanhi nung insidente,” DMW Hans Leo Cacdac said.

(No Filipinofatalities have been reported, and we stand in solidarity with and extend our condolences to those who lost their lives in the incident.)

“Pero may Pilipino na naulat na 3 na OFWs sa ngayon na nasa ospital, injured. Dalawa nasa ISU, pero yung isa wala sa ICU, and we are currently monitoring all of their situations and their medical condition, and we’re reaching out to their families at the moment,” he added.

(However, three Overseas Filipino Workers were reported injured and are currently in the hospital. Two are in the intensive care unit, while the other is not. We are monitoring their situations and medical conditions and are reaching out to their families.)

At least 12 people were killed and more than 300 wounded in an attack on Riyadh's international airport on Saturday, the deadliest in the kingdom in more than a decade, as the Iran-backed Houthis escalate a campaign they launched this summer.

Cacdac further said DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration personnel are visiting the wounded OFWs.

"We continue to do the rounds sa mga to find out may ibang Pilipino na nasaktan at hari nawa wala nang ilipino na nasaktan,” the DMW official said.

(We continue to check with the authorities to determine whether there are other Filipinos who were injured. We hope no more Filipinos were hurt.)

DMW earlier confirmed that two Filipinos were were hurt in Saturday’s deadly attack, the third such incident this week in the kingdom

The two previous attacks on King Khalid International Airport this week killed four and caused heavy damage to a Saudi commercial plane parked on the tarmac. The strikes have exposed vulnerabilities in Saudi defense capabilities as it wages an air campaign against the Houthis to support a ground war by the Yemeni government against the Iran-backed group.

The Houthis have not claimed responsibility for the attack, but a Saudi-led military coalition vowed to respond. —RF, GMA News
