The Philippine government on Wednesday warned prospective overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) heading for Guam against falling for a hospital recruitment scam there. The scam involves at least two websites, www.guamgeneralhospital and www.westernpacifichospital.com, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), citing a report from the Philippine Consulate General in Guam. A check on www.westernpacifichospital.com showed that it has already been deactivated. An article posted Wednesday on the DFA website said the two websites have been soliciting application for employment. "Guam General Hospital and Western Pacific Hospital [do] not exist. The online job solicitation is an apparent scam to lure unwary applicants into applying for jobs that [do] not exist. The websites of these alleged hospitals are currently under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation," the DFA quoted the Philippine Consulate General as saying. The Consulate added that there is only one hospital in Guam, the Guam Memorial Hospital. — KBK/RSJ, GMANews.TV
