Pinay maid in Saudi accused of stealing P4.3-M wedding ring
A Filipina maid in Saudi Arabia is in hot water after being accused of stealing a wedding ring worth SR375,000 (P4.315 million), a Saudi-based news site reported on Wednesday. Arab News cited a police report from Alkhobar saying the case involving a 29-year-old maid was referred to a court in Dammam. The report said the case was filed with the court on June 29. The Arab News report also said the maid's recruiter sent its report on the case to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Adjudication Division. According to the Arab News report, the maid was detained at the Dammam Central Jail for five days. Meanwhile, migrant advocacy group Migrante Middle East coordinator John Monterona said the maid had called him on Monday to ask for assistance. Monterona said the maid insisted that she did not steal the ring because she had no permission to enter her employer's bedroom where the ring was supposedly kept. - VVP, GMA News
