Fil-Am grandma guilty of throwing toddler off mall bridge
A 50-year-old Filipino-American woman was found guilty of throwing her two-year-old granddaughter from a shopping mall pedestrian bridge, a report of Asian Journal said. The report on Thursday said Carmela dela Rosa claimed to be insane when she threw her granddaughter from 45-foot high bridge in November 2010. However, the Fairfax County jury rejected Dela Rosa's insanity claim, the report said. According to the Asian Journal, prosecutors said Dela Rosa's action was motivated by anger at the man who got daughter pregnant out of wedlock. Witnesses testified that Dela Rosa was severely depressed and even tried to kill herself on several occasions after her daughter became pregnant, the report said. Asian Journal said the trial has moved to the sentencing phase where the jury must decide on a prison term for Dela Rosa. - VVP, GMA News
