Pinoys in Ethiopia see employment growth due to construction boom
Overseas Filipino workers in Ethiopia expect their ranks to grow rapidly in the next five to 10 years due to the construction boom there, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. In a news release, the DFA said Filipino community leaders disclosed this to Philippine officials conducting a consular service in Addis Ababa from December 11 to 13. "Filipino community leaders projected that Filipino workers in Ethiopia will continue to grow from about 800 Filipinos at present to around 5,000 Filipinos in the next five to 10 years, due to the construction boom in Addis Ababa," the DFA said. Charge d'Affaires Alex Lamadrid said he was please to see the growing number of Filipinos in Ethiopia, who include doctors, engineers, architects, consultants, teachers, non-governmental organizations (NGO) and United Nations workers, and construction workers. - VVP, GMA News
