An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) group in Saudi Arabia — yhe Samahan ng mga Manggagawang Pilipino sa Gassim or Association of Filipino Workers in Qassim (SAMPIGA) — will hold a medical mission in the Hail area on February 17, not January 27 as earlier announced.   A report of the news site Arab News said: “The postponement is due to the fact that the date in the event approval notice from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs was wrong."   SAMPIGA executive vice president Yousef Lubid thanked Ahmed Abdullah Al-Rebdi, an engineer and vice president for manufacturing and technical affairs of the Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Appliances Corporation (SPIMACO), for the medicines given free to Filipinos.

He noted that last year, SPIMACO also donated drugs and medicines for the group’s medical missions which included the 16th Health Awareness & Community Outreach Program in Unaizah on February 4, 2011, attended by 600 OFWs. SAMPIGA noted that than 400 patients availed of free consultations with volunteer doctors and nurses last year.

SAMPIGA also conducted at Badayah on April 10, 2011; Zulfi on July 29, 2011; Al-Salman Hotel in Buraidah on July 29, 2011; and at Al-Rass on Dec. 2, 2011. - VVP, GMA News
